All you need is your voice and a companion with whom you can talk to while the test is going on. Guidelines for Talk Test 1. If you can talk easily and comfortably without stopping for breath while talking, then your intensity level is low. The intensity level can be increased at this stage. This is the ideal stage for beginners. 2. If you are talking while walking and noticing a slight increase in the breathing, then your intensity level is moderate. This level can be maintained by people who are involved in light cardio training. 3. If you walk and carry on a conversation but have to stop occasionally for breath, then your intensity level is comfortable. This should be the level if you are into serious workout and weight training. Walking at this level is called brisk walking and will help you burn calories. 4. If you are walking but cannot carry on a conversation but at the same time you are not gasping for air, your intensity level is fairly difficult. This is a difficult level and can be attempted by people who are conversant with the previous step. This helps to burn calories and stay in shape. Therefore, Talk Test is the most easiest and cheap way to find out how well you are working out.
